Softball Recap: Exeter Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Reedley, Exeter was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 13-9 win over the Avenal Buccaneers. This was payback for the Monarchs, who suffered a 9-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Exeter got a massive performance out of Emily Mansker, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave Mansker a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ailis Salazar, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Exeter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Avenal only managed seven hits.

Exeter's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Avenal, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-3-1 record this season.

Exeter didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-15 win against Summit Charter Collegiate Academy on the 12th. As for Avenal, they have also already played their next match, a 12-2 loss against Chavez on the 14th.
