Baseball Recap: Walnut Ridge Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Walnut Ridge's offense. They came up short against the Briggs Bruins on Friday, falling 13-0. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Scots' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Walnut Ridge saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eric Villareal, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double. That double marked the first that Villareal has hit this season.

Walnut Ridge is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5. As for Briggs, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-8.

Coming up, Walnut Ridge is taking a road trip to square off against Eastmoor Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Briggs, they will welcome Central Crossing at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Comets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.47 runs per game on average), something the Bruins will no doubt try to take advantage of.
