Basketball Recap: Palatine Find Success

Palatine won the last time they faced St. Francis and things went their way on Saturday too. The Palatine Pirates pulled ahead with a 61-60 photo finish over the St. Francis Spartans. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the Spartans are ranked 224th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Palatine has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for St. Francis, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Palatine will square off against Glenbard West at 2:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025. As for St. Francis, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Leo at 7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
