Softball Recap: West Jefferson's Undefeated Season over After Nine Games

West Jefferson suffered their closest defeat since March 28, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Hayes Pacers by a score of 4-2. The contest marked the Roughriders' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Jenna Mannon was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Mannon wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kimberly Warnock, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, West Jefferson fell to 8-1. As for Hayes, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-1.

West Jefferson has already played their next game, a 10-0 victory against Triad on the 21st. As for Hayes, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 9-1 win against Big Walnut on the 17th.
