Basketball Recap: Ariel Rodriguez Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Firebaugh

After losing to Firebaugh the last time they met, Norwalk decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Norwalk Lancers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Firebaugh Falcons 64-62.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Norwalk to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ariel Rodriguez, who went 9 of 13 on his way to 23 points and four steals. Those 23 points gave Rodriguez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Andruw Castellanos, who posted 21 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Norwalk's record is now 12-6. As for Firebaugh, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-3.

Norwalk will face off against Downey at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Norwalk is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season. As for Firebaugh, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Middle College at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Firebaugh is facing Middle College at the right time seeing as Middle College is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
