Basketball Recap: Deposit-Hancock vs. Unatego Spartans
Deposit-Hancock lost against the Unatego Spartans back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Deposit-Hancock fell 59-49 to the Spartans. Deposit-Hancock has not had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the loss, Deposit-Hancock still got an impressive performance from Blake Fortunato, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That was a full 42.9% of Deposit-Hancock's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Zach Russell, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Deposit-Hancock has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season. As for Unatego, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.
Deposit-Hancock will head out on the road to take on the Bobcats at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Unatego, they will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Delaware Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Spartans in New York (the Bulldogs are ranked 167th, while the Spartans are ranked 712th).
