Volleyball Recap: Tyler Knights vs. Wheeling Central Catholic Maroon Knights
Tyler had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Wheeling Central Catholic Maroon Knights 3-0 on Tuesday. The Knights have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Maroon Knights, too.
One reason for the win was Tyler's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-22, 25-18.
Tyler kept the net locked down and finished the game with 21 blocks. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now had at least five blocks in eight consecutive games.
Despite the loss, Wheeling Central Catholic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Olivia Stephens had 29 digs and two aces. Stephens is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last 11 games she's played. Reagan Jones was another key player, getting 16 digs.
Tyler has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season. As for Wheeling Central Catholic, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-14.
Tyler has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against St. Marys on the 2nd. Wheeling Central Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
