Softball Game Preview: Hanford Falcons vs. Kennewick Lions

Hanford and Kennewick are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. Hanford will challenge Kennewick at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hanford has three straight wins, Kennewick has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Hanford made easy work of Hermiston and carried off an 11-1 victory. Considering the Falcons have won three contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Audrey Roberts and Neve Jimenez did most of the damage at the plate: Roberts scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Jimenez scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those three hits gave Roberts a new career-high. Ava Marmon also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Hanford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Kennewick suffered their biggest loss since April 23, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 9-3 to Kamiakin.

Mayce Davis made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Davis is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Bendewald, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

Hanford's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Kennewick, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Everything went Hanford's way against Kennewick when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Hanford made off with a 16-1 victory. Will Hanford repeat their success, or does Kennewick has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
