Softball Recap: Mora Beats Clayton for Their Tenth Straight Victory

Mora waltzed into their matchup on Monday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They blew past the Clayton Yellowjackets 19-4. The result was nothing new for the Rangers/Rangerettes, who have now won 13 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Cierra Benavidez made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Mora got a big performance out of Jasmine Romero, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Romero is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Morgan Benjamin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Mora always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .793. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in 15 consecutive contests.

Mora's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.1 runs over those games. As for Clayton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Mora has already played their next game, a 15-5 win against McCurdy on the 30th. Clayton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
