Football Recap: Arroyo Grande Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Arroyo Grande had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 35-28 to the Golden West Trailblazers on Friday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trailblazers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Despite the loss, Arroyo Grande still got an impressive performance from Zack Tayman, who rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Caleb Clark, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Jayden Najera had a dynamite game For Golden West., throwing for 248 yards and four TDs, while also rushing for 121 yards and one score. Those 121 rushing yards gave Najera a new career-high.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arroyo Grande will head out to challenge Newbury Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Golden West, they will venture away from home to take on Dinuba at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
