Wright waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. Everything went their way against the Jeffers Jets as they made off with a 12-2 win. This was a revenge game for the Red Devils: when they faced off against the Jets last Thursday, they had to take a 7-1 defeat.
Ethan Gallo made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Wright is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-9 otherwise. Gallo was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Landon Buerger and Brendan McCullough did most of the damage at the plate: Buerger went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while McCullough went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. McCullough is becoming a predictor of Wright's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-9 when he doesn't). Madden Sommer was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Wright was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Wright's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Jeffers, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-3.
Wright will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Jets: the pair will be back at it again later today.
