Preview: Bertie Falcons vs. North Moore Mustangs
The Bertie Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the North Moore Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
With a playoff game on the line, Bertie rose to the challenge on Friday. Everything went their way against Southside as Bertie made off with a 34-14 victory.
Bertie can attribute much of their success to Jeremiah Benthall, who threw for 273 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes, and also punched in two rushing scores.
Meanwhile, North Moore entered their tilt with Chatham Central with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. North Moore blew past Chatham Central, posting a 28-0 victory at home.
North Moore's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jakarey Gillis, who rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown. North Moore also got a significant boost from Kolby Ritchie, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 85 yards.
Their wins bumped Bertie to 5-5 and North Moore to 9-2.
