With a playoff win on the line, East Columbus rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They never let the North Duplin Rebels get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The Gators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.
Mack Freeman was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Nick Rye was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
East Columbus was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Duplin only posted a batting average of .125.
East Columbus is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for North Duplin, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.
Looking ahead, East Columbus will take on East Wake Academy on Friday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Gators surely won't give up without a fight. North Duplin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
