Basketball Game Preview: St. Francis Indians vs. Decatur Community Red Devils

The St. Francis Indians will head out to face off against the Decatur Community Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

St. Francis lost 64-43 to Greeley County on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Jackrabbits: they've now lost seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Decatur Community was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 50-46 heartbreaker at the hands of Quinter.

St. Francis will need to focus on slowing down Tyler Ostmeyer, one of several Decatur Community players who made an impact when they last played. He dropped a double-double with 19 points and 11 boards. That was a full 41.3% of Decatur Community's points, marking the fourth time in a row Ostmeyer has posted more than a third of the team's points. Davin Jensen was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Decatur Community was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

Decatur Community now has a losing record of 9-10. As for St. Francis, their loss dropped their record down to 2-18-1.

St. Francis took a serious blow against Decatur Community when the teams last played back in January, falling 55-28. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Ostmeyer, who dropped a double-double with 29 points and 14 rebounds.
