Basketball Game Preview: Polytechnic Panthers vs. Sierra Vista Dons

The Polytechnic Panthers are headed away from home for the first time to challenge the Sierra Vista Dons at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Panthers fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Tuesday's season opener. They blew past San Bernardino, posting an 84-41 victory. The Panthers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since January 21st (when they won 89-22).

Meanwhile, Sierra Vista didn't have too much breathing room in their game against West Covina on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 50-46 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dons.

Polytechnic skirted past Sierra Vista 60-57 when the teams last played back in December of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Dons' Aaron Buna, who went 6-for-11 from beyond the arc on his way to 33 points. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be easier for the Panthers to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
