Soccer Game Preview: Highland vs. Dover

The Highland Huskies are taking a road trip to face off against the Dover Dragons at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Highland's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Highland came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 7-0 to Spackenkill. While losing is never fun, Highland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York soccer rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Spackenkill are ranked 47th).

Meanwhile, Dover hadn't done well against Rhinebeck recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Wednesday. The Dragons skirted past the Hawks 1-0. Dover wouldn't have won without Marvin Molina Garcia, who scored the game-winner.

Highland's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3-2. As for Dover, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Highland came out on top in a nail-biter against Dover when the teams last played on September 8th, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
