Recap: North Central Panthers vs. Muncie Central Bearcats
The North Central Panthers won the last time they faced the Muncie Central Bearcats, and things went their way on Saturday too. North Central came out on top against Muncie Central by a score of 63-52. Given North Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while Muncie Central is ranked 162nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
North Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tim Williams out in front who scored 18 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Nijah Jewell, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Muncie Central still got an impressive performance from DeMarkis Cole, who scored 21 points along with four steals. Lj Strange was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
North Central's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Muncie Central, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Central will square off against Warren Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Muncie Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Indianapolis Bishop Chatard at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
