Football Recap: Gray Collegiate Academy Piles Up the Points Against Airport

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gray Collegiate Academy). They blew past the Airport Eagles 62-7 on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the War Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 24th, while the Eagles are ranked 167th).

Gray Collegiate Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trevon Williamson, who rushed for 81 yards and three scores on only ten carries. Corey Gleaton also helped with two touchdowns in total.

Gray Collegiate Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Royce Williamson and Gleaton. Gleaton got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Gray Collegiate Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.8 points over those games. As for Airport, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.
