Softball Recap: Vel Phillips Memorial Comes Up Short

Vel Phillips Memorial lost a heartbreaker to Sun Prairie East when they met back in April of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. The Spartans took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 5-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Tricia Balice was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Ava Garcia Christoph was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Vel Phillips Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Sun Prairie East, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Vel Phillips Memorial wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 9-4 loss against Tomah on the 12th. As for Sun Prairie East, they will head out to square off against Hamilton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
