Volleyball Recap: Citrus Takes a Loss

Citrus was the 3-1 winner over Crystal River when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Hurricanes took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates on Tuesday. The Hurricanes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 19-25, 25-16, 25-14.

Elin Ackerman paced Citrus' offense, picking up 21 kills. Ackerman got some help from Ella Merchant and her 28 assists. Finally, Mackenzie Flaherty kept Citrus' defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Crystal River had a senior duo take command as Violet Flynn had ten digs and two assists and Athena Childs had seven digs and three aces.

Citrus' loss dropped their record down to 4-20. As for Crystal River, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-14.

Coming up, Citrus will take on Seven Rivers Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Crystal River does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
