Recap: Evansville North Huskies vs. Bloomington South Panthers
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Evansville North Huskies, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. Their rough 42-21 defeat to Bloomington South on Friday might stick with them for a while. Evansville North's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Evansville North's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being James Mercer, who picked up 113 receiving yards and a touchdown. Mercer's longest reception was for an incredible 87 yards. Another player making a difference was Sam Mckinney, who threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bloomington South to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jarrin Alley, who threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Bloomington South also got a significant boost from Gavin Adams, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 118 yards.
Evansville North's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Bloomington South, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.
Evansville North does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Bloomington South will head out on the road to face off against Decatur Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Decatur Central is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
