Softball Recap: Fort Wayne Northrop Takes a Loss

Fort Wayne Northrop dropped their record down to 4-5 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Homestead Spartans, falling 18-6. The Bruins were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Spartans earlier this season, when they won 6-5.

Lauren Anderson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

As for Homestead, their win bumped their record up to 7-3. Considering they have won five games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

On Homestead's side, they let Grace Jordan and Olivia Schultheis run wild. Jordan went 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs, while Schultheis went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Schultheis has posted since back in April of 2024. Braeli Borchers was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Looking ahead, Fort Wayne Northrop will take on Fort Wayne Wayne at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Homestead, they will face off against Columbia City at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
