Basketball Game Preview: Loyalton Grizzlies vs. Princeton Eagles

Loyalton is 7-0 against Princeton since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Loyalton Grizzlies will head out to take on the Princeton Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Loyalton is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

Last Wednesday, Loyalton was able to grind out a solid win over Los Molinos, taking the game 55-45.

Loyalton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Catherine Petterson, who posted 22 points and four steals. That's the most points Petterson has posted since back in February of 2024. Mollie Griffin was another key player, putting up 15 points and five boards.

Loyalton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Princeton hadn't done well against Biggs recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Princeton snuck past Biggs with a 40-35 victory. The win was all the more spectacular given the Eagles' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1127th, while the Wolverines are ranked 444th).

Loyalton pushed their record up to 7-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.2 points. As for Princeton, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Loyalton was able to grind out a solid win over Princeton when the teams last played back in December of 2024, winning 43-32. Will Loyalton repeat their success, or does Princeton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
