Softball Recap: Aiken Fighting Green Hornets vs. Brookland-Cayce Bearcats
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Gray Collegiate Academy, Aiken was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-14 win over the Brookland-Cayce Bearcats. The Fighting Green Hornets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Aiken let Taylor Baisch and Maddie Zeigler run wild. Baisch scored two runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances, while Zeigler went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those two runs gave Baisch a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braleigh Lowder, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI.
Aiken was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brookland-Cayce only posted a batting average of .259.
