Softball Recap: Parowan Takes a Loss

Parowan had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 5-12 to make it four. They came up short against the Richfield Wildcats, falling 14-6. The Rams were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 10-9.

Ella Lemke made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Olivia Maloney also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

As for Richfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season. The result was nothing new for Richfield, who have now won seven matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

On Richfield's side, Kolbi Viers made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Viers has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kayla Nielson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since March 3rd. Another player making a difference was Abby Pedersen, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

Coincidentally, Parowan and Richfield will both be playing Delta the next time they take the field. The Rams will host the Rabbits at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Wildcats will host them at 3:30 p.m. on April 7.
