League recap: Claremore paces Metro Lakes with five wins over past week

Metro Lakes league recap: 3/20/13

Claremore outperformed the rest of the league this week, as its five total wins led the league. The Zebras beat Washington 5-2 and the Hornets 6-4.

Tahlequah made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from seventh to fifth place in Metro Lakes thanks to a 2-2 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, Washington fell hardest in the standings, dropping from fourth all the way to seventh place after going 0-4 in the past week. Claremore (8-2, 6-0) is now in first place.

Coweta boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

The Tigers, the league's stolen base leader this season with 25, added to their lead in that category with 14 more steals over the past week.

The league boasted nine .400 hitters over the past week. They were led by Hayden Holmes, who hit .600 this week (3-for-5).



Hayden Holmes led Coweta to a win on March 15, as he notched nine strikeouts to beat East Central, 17-1. He gave up one hit and one run over five innings of work.

Dylan Menken drove in four runners on Tuesday in the Tigers' 13-7 victory over Collinsville. He went 1-for-3 and scored one run.
