Basketball Game Preview: Highland Hornets vs. Valencia Jaguars

The Highland Hornets will square off against the Valencia Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Friday, Highland came up short against Grants and fell 52-44.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Rebecca Neal, who posted five points along with 17 rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Breanna Payton, who went 6-for-13 on her way to 14 points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, Valencia faced St. Pius X in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Valencia took a 35-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Pius X.

Highland has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season. As for Valencia, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-6.

Highland ended up a good deal behind Valencia in their previous matchup back in January, losing 54-35. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Valencia's Jadyn Montoya, who went 8-for-19 to rack up 22 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.
