Baseball Game Preview: Trousdale County Yellowjackets vs. Jo Byrns Red Devils

For the second straight game, Trousdale County will face off against Jo Byrns. The Yellowjackets will host the Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Trousdale County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 33 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Jo Byrns on Thursday. They fell 6-1 to the Red Devils. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

For Jo Byrns' part, Adam Riley made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Riley is becoming a predictor of Jo Byrns' success: when he posts at least ten strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 8-14 when he doesn't). Riley was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

Riley wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Clay Woody, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Woody has posted since back in April. Drake Brown was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Jo Byrns pushed their record up to 10-15 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Trousdale County, they now have a losing record of 9-10-1.
