Baseball Recap: Highland Comes Up Short

Highland managed to slip by Valencia the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Hornets came up short against the Jaguars on Friday, falling 9-2. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Highland saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Antonio, who went 1-for-4 with one double.

Highland has also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10-1 record this season. As for Valencia, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 9-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highland will take on Hope Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Huskies have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Valencia, they will face off against Belen at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
