Softball Recap: Lincoln Takes a Loss

Lincoln and Piedmont Hills pushed the score to 16-4 the last time they played Piedmont Hills, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Lions fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-4 two weeks ago.

Lincoln's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4. As for Piedmont Hills, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Lincoln will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Silver Creek at 4:00 p.m. on the 16th. As for Piedmont Hills, they will challenge Del Mar at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.56 runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of.
