Softball Recap: Union County Comes Up Short

Union County's last matchup with Milan could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Wednesday. The Patriots lost 17-6 to the Indians. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Patriots of the 16-14 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Union County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaiyd Burroughs, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Braylen Rudnick was another, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Union County now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Milan, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season.

Union County will take on Winchester Community at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Falcons have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Milan, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 9-1 victory against Lawrenceburg on the 23rd.
