Baseball Recap: Southwest Christian Wins Going Away Against Breck

While Southwest Christian put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Breck. The Stars put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 11-0 win. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Stars this season.

Nathaniel Coffin looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Brandt Tebbs and Melvin Maldonado did most of the damage at the plate: Tebbs went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Maldonado went 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Those two RBI gave Tebbs a new career-high. Ben Lindberg was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Southwest Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Breck only managed one hit.

Southwest Christian is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Breck, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 5-4.

Looking ahead, Southwest Christian is taking a road trip to take on Jordan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Breck, they will welcome Minnehaha Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
