Baseball Game Preview: Churchill County Greenwave vs. The Meadows School Mustangs

The Churchill County Greenwave will square off against The Meadows School Mustangs at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Churchill County heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Thursday. They fell just short of Boulder City by a score of 9-8. The Greenwave's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Churchill County got a good showing from Mason Storm, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Storm has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chase Carnahan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Anthony Gonzales, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three contests, The Meadows School finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Truckee. Like the Greenwave, the Mustangs also had to let a streak go: they had won six straight, but that streak is no more.

Churchill County's loss dropped their record down to 21-9-1. As for The Meadows School, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-13.

Churchill County came up short against The Meadows School when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 8-3. Can the Greenwave avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
