Softball Game Preview: Owen County Rebels vs. Conner Cougars

Owen County hasn't had much luck against Conner recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Rebels will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 12:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Conner will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Owen County extended their winning streak to three on Thursday. The Rebels put the hurt on Trimble County with a sharp 15-3 victory.

Hallie Tirey made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Tirey was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Owen County got a massive performance out of Andie Baumann, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and three RBI. That's the most runs Baumann has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Lois Kemper, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Owen County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Conner never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over Lloyd Memorial. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Juggernauts recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Conner's victory bumped their record up to 16-9-2. As for Owen County, their win bumped their record up to 15-11.
