Basketball Preview: Sparks Railroaders vs. Hug Hawks

Sparks has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Hug Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Wednesday, Sparks was able to grind out a solid win over the Wolverines, taking the game 51-44. That seven point margin sets a new team best for Sparks this season.

Sparks' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaoquin Tagulao, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Tagulao hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. Adrian Banuelos Puga was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Hug waltzed into their match on Wednesday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They walked away with a 73-62 victory over Wooster. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Sparks' win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-17. As for Hug, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-9.

Sparks took a serious blow against the Hawks in their previous meeting back in January, falling 79-45. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Sparks was down 44-21.
