Football Recap: Lafayette Christian Academy Extends Winning Streak to Three

Lafayette Christian Academy put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against the Westgate Tigers as they made off with a 45-21 victory. The Knights pushed the score to 45-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers cut but never quite recovered from.

Caiden Bellard was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 225 yards and two scores while picking up 10.2 yards per carry, and also caught one TD. Those 225 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braylon Walker, who threw for 123 yards and three touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lafayette Christian Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 231 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 156 rushing yards in seven consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Lafayette Christian Academy's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Joseph Adams with two sacks.

Lafayette Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Westgate, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lafayette Christian Academy will square off against Archbishop Shaw at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for Westgate, they will take on Teurlings Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. The game will give the Tigers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
