Softball Game Preview: Hughson Huskies vs. Casa Roble Rams

The Hughson Huskies will face off against the Casa Roble Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hughson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Ben Holt College Prep Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Huskies.

Kylie Tangney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hughson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Leedom, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Casa Roble never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Union Mine. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Casa Roble also got a great performance from Cassandra Alvarez as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emily Gomez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Seidel, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Casa Roble is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hughson, their record is now 15-8-1.
