Basketball Recap: Morningside Academy Has No Trouble Against Somerset College Prep Academy

Morningside Academy posted their biggest win since January 13th on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 61-39 margin over the Somerset College Prep Academy Spartans. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Savas Akini and William Tracey certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Akini posted 12 points and seven rebounds, while Tracey scored 12 points. Those 12 points gave Akini a new career-high.

Morningside Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Somerset College Prep Academy, they dropped their record down to 4-14 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Morningside Academy and Somerset College Prep Academy could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Morningside Academy (ranked 502nd) will meet Jupiter (ranked 66th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Somerset College Prep Academy will face off against Jensen Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday down 443 places (671 vs. 228).
