Softball Recap: Johnson Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Clemens, Johnson was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the East Central Hornets a 2-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Jaguars have posted since February 28th.

Not much got past Bridgett Alviar, who gave up just three hits to keep East Central off the board.

At the plate, Johnson's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Emree Massaad, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Massaad has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played.

Johnson's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for East Central, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-9.

Coming up, Johnson will challenge Judson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rockets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.18 runs per game on average), something the Jaguars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for East Central, they will welcome Clemens at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Buffaloes have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
