Baseball Recap: Truckee Gets the Win

Truckee won the last time they faced South Tahoe and things went their way on Thursday too. The Wolverines came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 5-2.

Simon Purchard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits. He has become a key player for Truckee: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-13 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Conner Suen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Cadell Moulton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Truckee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Tahoe only posted an OBP of .269.

Truckee's record now sits at 11-14. As for South Tahoe, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-18.

Truckee will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vikings: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
