Football Recap: St. Paul Gets the Win

Cross County came into Friday's matchup looking for another win against St. Paul, but Mason Majerus wouldn't allow it. The Wildcats took down the Cougars 31-16 on Friday for which the team can thank Majerus, who rushed for 171 yards and a pair of scores. He also put up two rushing touchdowns, which were his first of the season.

When it comes to explaining why Cross County lost, don't look at Sawyer Anderson. Despite the final result, he threw for 197 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 33 yards. Tyion Francis helped out on the ground, rushing for 83 yards and a rushing touchdown.

St. Paul's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Cross County, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, St. Paul will venture away from home to challenge Boone Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cross County, they will host Grand Island Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Crusaders' defense has only allowed 4.7 points per game this season, so the Cougars' offense will have their work cut out for them.
