Soccer Game Preview: Lumberton vs. Sealy

The Lumberton Raiders will face off against the Sealy Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lumberton comes in on five and Sealy on four.

Lumberton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Lumberton who was credited with the win. Lumberton got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Hargrave's two. Given Lumberton's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 240th, while Hargrave are ranked 556th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lumberton's one-goal win came courtesy of Andrew Hansen, who's now up to 36 this season.

Last Friday, Sealy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Mickey Leland College Preparatory Academy for Young Men. Sealy found success even though the refs didn't miss a thing: five Sealy players were handed yellow cards.

Lumberton's win bumped their record up to 15-5-2. As for Sealy, they now have a winning record of 14-13.

Lumberton came out on top in a nail-biter against Sealy in their previous meeting back in January of 2022, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lumberton since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
