Basketball Recap: Denver East Comes Up Short

Denver East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 76-51 to the Rangeview Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 83-67 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Denver East lost, don't look at JAMES MURRAY. Despite the final result, he posted 14 points and four steals. FABIAN MORRIS was another key player, putting up nine points.

Rangeview was led to victory by Marceles Duncan and Archie Weatherspoon v. Duncan went 8-for-9 to rack up 24 points in addition to three steals and three blocks, while Weatherspoon v went 10-for-14 on his way to 24 points. The dominant performance also gave Duncan a new career-high in shooting accuracy (89%). Another player making a difference was Ladavian King, who earned nine points along with seven assists and seven boards.

Denver East's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Rangeview, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 19-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Denver East will face off against Northfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Denver East is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.6 points per game this season. As for Rangeview, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Vista PEAK Prep at 7:00 p.m. Vista PEAK Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully Rangeview likes a good challenge.
