Volleyball Recap: Stevens Point's Winning Streak Snapped at Nine Games

Stevens Point and Divine Savior Holy Angels squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Stevens Point had to settle for second. They lost 3-0 to Divine Savior Holy Angels. The shutout was out of character for the Panthers seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in October.

Stevens Point's loss came despite strong showings from Katie Kornowski and Lenna Mayer. Kornowski had 19 assists and nine digs, while Mayer had 16 digs. Kornowski has been hot for a while, having posted 13 or more assists the last 78 times she's played.

Leading Divine Savior Holy Angels to victory were Kaitlyn Jones and Liney Abbott. Jones had ten digs and two aces, while Abbott had seven digs.

With the defeat, Stevens Point broke their nine-match winning streak and moved their record to 32-8. As for Divine Savior Holy Angels, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 43-3.

Stevens Point does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Divine Savior Holy Angels, they are on the road again on Friday to play Waunakee at 1:00 p.m.
