Basketball Recap: Crested Butte Comes Up Short

If Crested Butte was riding high fresh off their 67-26 takedown of Hayden on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Crested Butte Titans fell to the Lake County Panthers 64-58. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Titans of the 67-65 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2022.

Isaiah Martinez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lake County, dropping a double-double with 32 points and 14 boards. The match was Martinez's sixth in a row with at least 16 points. Devyn Sterkel was another key player, putting up nine points.

Crested Butte has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season. Lake County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-12 record this season.

Crested Butte didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 34-31 victory against Sargent on the 21st. As for Lake County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-49 win against Swink on the 21st.
