Baseball Recap: Preston Wins Going Away Against Pocatello

Preston lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Pocatello, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's matchup. The Indians put the hurt on the Thunder with a sharp 12-1 victory on Wednesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Indians as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Caide Oxborrow was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Preston got a massive performance out of Conner Thomson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Thomson has become a key player for the Indians: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-6 otherwise. Janson Hollingsworth was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Preston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pocatello only posted an OBP of .227.

Preston picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 5-6. As for Pocatello, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.

Preston will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Thunder: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
