Basketball Recap: Collierville Victorious

After losing to Pontotoc the last time they met, Collierville decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Collierville Dragons slipped by the Pontotoc Warriors 47-46 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dragons.

Collierville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bailey Thornton led the charge by going 5 for 10 on her way to 14 points. The dominant performance gave Thornton a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jekhyra Rodgers, who posted four points in addition to six assists and five steals.

Collierville has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. As for Pontotoc, they moved to 14-4 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Collierville has already played their next match (against Arlington), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Pontotoc has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Choctaw Central.
