Basketball Recap: St. Joseph Academy Continues Road Dominance on Monday

St. Joseph Academy had won three straight road games and Kate Mocho did her part to make it four on Monday. The St. Joseph Academy Jaguars walked away with a 58-50 win over the Padua Franciscan Bruins thanks in part to Mocho, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 19 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Another player making a difference was Melanie Alvarenga, who posted six points along with 11 assists and six boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in assists.

St. Joseph Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Padua Franciscan, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6.

St. Joseph Academy has already played their next game, a 65-32 loss against Archbishop Hoban on the 23rd. Padua Franciscan has also already played their next contest (against Magnificat), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
