Softball Recap: Navajo Pine Warriors vs. Laguna Acoma Hawks
Navajo Pine had lost six straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 3-12 to make it seven. They lost 22-0 to the Laguna Acoma Hawks. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Warriors' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
As for Laguna Acoma, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. Considering they have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
For Laguna Acoma's part, Ciandra Lucero made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave Lucero a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Brown, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
