Basketball Recap: Chapmanville Regional Takes a Loss

Chapmanville Regional lost against Wayne back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Chapmanville Regional Tigers took a 47-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wayne Pioneers. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Pioneers are ranked sixth).

Wayne had a senior duo take command as Brooke Adkins went 9 of 17 en route to 20 points and seven boards and Kiya Brown went 6 for 10 on her way to 12 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Brown a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Addie Adkins, who posted two points and three steals.

Chapmanville Regional has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Wayne, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4.

Chapmanville Regional wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 61-23 win against Scott on the 30th. As for Wayne, they have also already played their next contest, a 70-33 victory against Woodrow Wilson on the 1st.
